WPHS Outdoor Classroom

posted Feb 28, 2012, 3:11 PM by Amanda Yearwood

WPHS recently was awarded a $5,000 LOWES Toolbox for Education Grant to enable our school to build an Outdoor Classroom.  We have undertaken a plant, seed, and potting soil campaign to enable our students the ability to participate and plant flowers, trees, and shrubs in and around our NEW Outdoor Classroom. Our initiative can only be sustained with help of volunteers, who would be willing to spare:

·        Small plants

·        packets of seeds

·        bags of potting soil

·        bird houses

·        bird feeders

·        planting tools (rakes, shovels, flower planting tools, etc.)

·        or simply volunteer to help make our Outdoor Classroom the best it can be!

This is incorporated into our student’s daily curriculum as a learning tool, which is a great hands-on activity for our students. Students will be able to use the donations and participate in planting flowers, trees, and shrubs as we celebrate EARTH DAY in April.  Please consider donating something for our first-ever WP High School Outdoor Learning Classroom.  Donations are accepted at the HS office.

We have received a very positive response from those aware of LOWES grant notification and hope you can kindly make a donation of the above mentioned items.  We look forward to your continued support.

Please forward this request to all WPHS supporters.
